Damien Vanachter thought he’d be the last one to blog about it—but turns out, he was wrong! I’m a bit late to the party too, but I still wanted to tell you about a project I’ve been part of for the past few weeks: Aaaliens.
In a nutshell, it’s a site where users share their daily web finds. Or more precisely:
Aaaliens is a federation of bloggers who want to pool and co-curate their discoveries and recommendations. It’s a kind of tool—or even a postmedia platform—for blogger ranking or link journalism (think of it as a “link news agency”?)
I really love the idea of teaming up to build a source of info that’s trustworthy, rich, and diverse. As one of the project’s key figures, Nicolas Voisin, puts it:
Here, the ‘human filter’ is never broken. Aaaliens is made up of the people you already read (but probably not enough), or more accurately, the best of what they’re reading—not their own writing.
Pirate culture? We don’t host anything, we don’t hijack the conversation. We run on serendipity, virality. We’re DJs, librarians, addicted surfers. Maybe even ‘developers,’ as the code poets would say. And we believe that sharing is a value for the future…
Bottom line: it’s a very cool initiative, and I’m excited to see where it goes. If you’re into this kind of thing, hop in and be part of the adventure at Aaaliens.com.
